KNX

KNX is the global standard for building automation and smart home control. The Revox Multiuser System integrates directly into the KN KNX world via its own KNX gateway. This allows the entire audio system to be operated using existing KNX buttons, displays, and visualizations.

The Revox Multiuser 3.0 KNX Gateway connects the Multiuser system bidirectionally with KNX building automation. System integrators receive a pre-fabricated product database for ETS from Revox, which allows them to configure rooms, zones, volume, player commands, and up to 16 freely definable additional commands per room without custom programming. One gateway controls up to 15 rooms; two gateways and thus 30 rooms are possible per Multiuser server, and the system scales accordingly with multiple servers. The Multiuser system responds to KNX scenes and can trigger scenes itself. Power is supplied either via the KNX bus or PoE. This way, the music system becomes part of the end customer's familiar smart home operation without them noticing the technology behind it.

LAN/WLAN

LAN and WLAN form the basis for almost all multi-user functions, from app control to streaming and multiroom playback. Revox systems can be integrated into the home network either wired or wirelessly.

A wired LAN connection provides the most stable connection with the lowest latency, which is particularly recommended for larger multiroom installations with many rooms. Alternatively, Wi-Fi enables flexible integration of individual devices without additional cabling; initial setup is conveniently done via the Bluetooth-supported Revox Connect function in the Multiuser app. All other interfaces, such as the open TCP/IP API, streaming services, and app control, run on this network basis.

Loxone

Loxone is a popular smart home platform for residential and commercial use and a cooperation partner of Revox. In addition to the existing connection via the open Revox API, a dedicated, ready-to-use driver for Loxone is currently being developed.

Revox and Loxone are partners. System integrators can already store VoxText commands via Loxone Config as network commands to control rooms, volumes, sources, and favorites. In addition, a dedicated, directly usable driver is under development, which will enable system integrators to set up systems in the future without manual configuration.

VoxText

At the core of every multi-user system is VoxText, a freely programmable, text-based control protocol over TCP/IP, which allows all system functions to be addressed. This open protocol is the technical basis for almost any third-party integration.

With simple, documented VoxText commands, rooms can be switched, sources selected, volumes controlled, favorites called up, and status messages read out. Since communication takes place via the TCP/IP standard protocol, virtually any network-compatible control system, from smart home hubs to professional control systems, can send and receive these commands. For system integrators and installers, this is the central, universal interface when no ready-made driver for the respective platform exists. Revox provides the corresponding command documentation for individual programming.
