Revox B77 MK III Stereo Tape Recorder: SPECIAL CAPSTAN SHAFT
For the new production of the capstan shaft for the Revox B77 MK III tape recorder, it was necessary to use and purchase very special steel. Swiss Steel produced five tons of this special steel for the manufacture of the high-precision capstan shaft.
The capstan shaft is considered the actual masterpiece of the direct-drive capstan motor. Its tolerance for concentricity is one thousandth of a millimeter. Its production alone requires 17 manufacturing steps!
Thanks to the meticulously engineered technology of the regulated capstan motor, even barely perceptible speed fluctuations are compensated. Highest precision for the best sound quality!
